Love-Tags.com Pet Bill of Rights
A pet is a huge responsibility that should not be taken lightly. Below are some things to remember when considering a new pet of ANY kind. Whether cat, dog, bird, fish reptile, rodent, pot-bellied pig or miniature pony, all companion animals are a lifetime commitment.
1.) I am a living creature and I deserve to be treated with kindness, love and respect.
2.) I require fresh food and water every day.
3.) I require a warm, safe place to sleep and shelter from the elements.
4.) I require regular veterinary care and vaccinations.
5.) Please protect me from other animals, abusive strangers and overly inquisitive children.
6.) In order to remain healthy, I require daily exercise, regular grooming and healthy food.
7.) For my own health and to prevent overpopulation, please have me spayed or neutered. It's NOT true that I need to have a litter of babies before being spayed. I will NOT become fat and lazy by being neutered. These are myths created by irresponsible pet owners.
8.) Whether I am an indoor or outdoor pet, I MUST have an identification tag. The majority of pets who become lost and have no identifying tag are never returned home. If possible, have me microchipped.
9.) My love for you is unconditional. Please love me the same way.
10.) For my own well-being, I need to be lovingly trained. I want to make you proud by behaving well in front of your friends. I need to know that jumping on people or barking constantly are unacceptable.
11.) I crave your affection. A belly rub or a pat on the head mean a whole lot to me. I live for a game of frisbee or a round of chase the catnip mouse with you.
12.) And when the time comes that I am too sick or feeble to care for myself or I am in pain, please let my veterinarian end my suffering gently and humanely. I know it's difficult, but stay with me to the end-hold me in your arms until I arrive at the "Rainbow Bridge". I'll be waiting there for you when the time comes for us to be together again.
And a final thought:
Please consider adopting a shelter animal. There are many breeds, sizes, colors and personalities to choose from. Purebred animals are nice, but sadly, there are greedy people who breed animals unscrupulously in puppy and kitten mills. Always check out a breeder's reputation and credentials before purchasing a "purebred" animal.

The Rainbow Bridge
By P.C. Dahm
There is a bridge connecting Heaven and Earth.
It is called the Rainbow Bridge because of all its beautiful colors.
Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge there is a land of meadows,
hills and valleys with lush green grass.
When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place.
There is always food and water and warm spring weather.
The old and frail animals are young again.
Those who were sick, hurt or in pain are made whole again.
There is only one thing missing,
they are not with their special person who loved them so much on earth.
So each day they run and play until the day comes
when one suddenly stops playing and looks up!
The nose twitches! The ears are up!
The eyes are staring and this one runs from the group!
You have been seen and when you and your special friend meet,
you take him in your arms and hug him.
He licks and kisses your face again and again -
and you look once more into the eyes of your best friend and trusting
pet.
Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together never again to be apart.
